MARC communications format is definitely an antique. However, it's
very easily parseable. But as you say, this is an XML list, and the
question was about MARC XML. With respect to that, I would be careful
to make sure that character set issues are squared away, that is, that
the non-ASCII characters you're including in the XML are in fact in
the character set you say/think they are in.
