Job Description:

 

Technical Library Services Associate Manager

Manages the technical library, providing technical literature searches
and sources of information 

to satisfy the scientific information needs of researchers and staff
within the company. Responsible for coordinating 

subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance
assessment, work assignments, salary, 

and recognition/disciplinary actions. Maintains extensive knowledge of
literature resources and continuous 

contacts with local, national, and international information centers and
agencies. Analyzes and improves information 

retrieval capabilities. Keeps abreast of developments in areas of
interest to the company and periodically 

consults with researchers and other information users to ensure maximum
usefulness and service. 

 

This part-time position is located in Rockville, Maryland.

Specific Job Description 

Manage (and train the vendor to perform) the XML formatting and coding
of scientific conferences 

that will be done by a Native American vendor. This position will serve
as liaison between the vendor and the NLM client. 

 

Duties Include: 

* Primary point of contact with vendor 

* Analysis and inventory of conference materials at NLM. 

* Review of / assist MHA with style sheet development for each
conference volume 

* Respond to XML / DTD questions 

* Coordinate NLM QA review of XML deliverable 

* Production of monthly/quarterly status reports 

* Possible travel to MHA Systems periodically 

* Perform XML tagging and DTDs; bibliographic data analysis

* Use of  MS Office software 

 

Required Skills 

Masters Degree in Library Sciences

Technical expertise in XML documentation
