KM Operations Specialist - Law Firm
Our law firm client is seeking a KM Operations Specialist for their Boston office.
Position Summary
Working with various groups in IT (large systems, networks, applications development) and members of the Knowledge and Library Services Group supervise day to day operations of the firm's KM tools, systems and business processes. Coordinate trouble-shooting activities and user support issues related to KM applications. Responsible for testing, quality assurance and monitoring usage of KM applications and processes.
Essential Functions:
Supervise the operation and maintenance of the firm's search tools, including but not limited to, West KM, enterprise search tools and other information retrieval products purchased by the firm. Work with Knowledge & Library Services and IT to define vetting, collection and indexing rules and procedures; build and maintain search indexes and collections; monitor search activity and troubleshoot problems.
Work with IT and the Knowledge & Library Services Group to establish and maintain operating procedures, testing, quality assurance measures and metrics relating to KM tools and projects.
Working with KM & Library Svcs and IT, supervise the creation and maintenance of a KnowledgeBase in FileSite to house documents for distribution to the intranet.
Oversee development and maintenance of queries required to support dynamic delivery of content to the firm's intranet sites.
Work with Knowledge Manager and Information Architect to develop tools and processes to support maintenance of a firm wide taxonomy.
Participate in the development of a data dictionary to define business rules for utilizing data elements required to support the leveraging of the firm's knowledge. Work with IT to construct and maintain authority lists to support the taxonomy.
Act as liaison between Knowledge and Library Services and IT to troubleshoot problems related to infoNet, extranet, West KM, Lexis Publisher, FileSite and other KM and content management tools.
Supervise development of FAQs and troubleshooting support for User Support.
Evaluate km tools and technologies as needed.
Work with IT to implement and maintain tools and processes for capturing metrics related to KM activities and be able to provide reports to management on meaningful parameters of use.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, communications, information systems or related field.
Strong knowledge of databases and tables, network security groups, search engines, taxonomy tools and SQL query language.
Experience with managing IT projects, working on cross-functional teams.
Must be both a self-starter and a team player.
Knowledge of taxonomy development
Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Tools
Proficient with: SQL, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and search tools. Good understanding of relational database concepts and client-server concepts.
