With regard to the e-mail, we have signs on our career computers to
create an email immediately at the beginning of a session if the patron
does not have one, then they have it for employers applications as well
as something to attach their resumes to.

Our computers also have a one hour shutoff, but they give
warnings at least 6 minutes before and we will give patrons another hour
to finish applications.

Don't you just hate that employers require online applications
for everything, and resumes for the lowest level positions? I am
convinced they are just trying to weed out the older applicants who
aren't computer-savvy. They get to the end of the application and then
find they need an e-mail address! Which they don't know how to acquire.
Which we walk them through, by which time the application has gone away
or they run out of time!

The majority of our public access computers are used heavily by
job seeking patrons. Every day, many of our patrons have a difficult
time completing an online job application and or filling out an
unemployment application claim, on our 1 hour computers.

Has your library come up with any best practice strategies for
when all the public access computers are being used? Does your library
have "designated" computers just for job seekers?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

	Sincerely,

	Jeff Lambert
