Fred -
One of the groups leading the effort and PR using the same talking points
you generated here
is Conservatives for Patients Rights <http://www.cprights.org/>.
According to the Aug 6 NYT OP-ED column The Town Hall
Mob<http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/07/opinion/07krugman.html?_r=4>by
Paul Krugman, CPR is organized by
"Rick Scott the former head of Columbia/HCA, a for-profit hospital chain.
Mr. Scott was forced out
of that job amid a fraud investigation; the company eventually pleaded
guilty to charges of overbilling
state and federal health plans, paying $1.7 billion - yes, that's "billion"
- in fines. You can't make this stuff up."
They were 'fined' $1.7 billion for a variety of reasons. Isn't it ironic
to use an example of the very
same activity as a barrier to health care reform?
Librarians evaluate information resources based on:
Authorship and Affiliation
Accuracy/Verifiability
Objectivity
Audience
Currency
Content/Purpose
Comparison to Other Similar Resources
How well does your checklist and the supporting documentation hold up under
this standard method of
critical evaluation made by public librarians?

who are bilking the taxpayers for $70-120 billion each year in Medicare and
Medicaid fraud? For 88 percent of Americans, this is the first place they
would look to find savings in our health care system. Is President Obama
willing to look there?
