When I first started at my current library, one of the "regulars" took
a liking to me. He would walk to the information desk or even,
occasionally, find me in the stacks to say "Hi, sweetcakes!" Ick.

My branch manager was infinitely amused by that when she heard him do
it the first time but at least she scolded him for it (which I guess I
should have done in the first place) and told him to address me by my
given name. The story spread among info staff and now we all refer to
him as "sweetcakes." :-)

Every time you hand a child a book, you help make the world a better
place. You help open a mind, build compassion, foster imagination,
encourage laughter and allow tears. Librarians understand the magic of
books. They are the true Dumbledores of the world.
