[Publib] Terraces?

Hello all,

 

We are a small, basically rural library.  We in the process of refining out
building program and working with an architect for a design, our architect
has proposed a reading terrace on the front of the building.

 

Do any of you out there have a terrace as an architectural feature? What do
you think of it?  

 

How to you keep it secure?  Do you have issues with lost/damaged items?
Youth? Vandalism?  Is it used?  Does it stay clean?  Has anyone had
liability/insurance issues? Thoughts? Comments?
