Sorry I'm late to this.  I see a number of arguments against Blu-Ray
(some of which are, to my mind, quite bogus) ... but can attest that
the Blu-Ray discs we have circulate like crazy.

Blu-Ray won the format war, in large part because of all of the PS3
gaming machines that double as Blu-Ray players.  HD streaming is only
a viable option where people have high-speed ... *very high speed* ...
DSL available; downloadable HD is do-able if you want to learn how to
do so (and good luck with that among seniors and boomers).

In ten years, who knows?  Finland recently made "fiber to the home" a
right.  That doesn't seem too likely in the US anytime soon.
