[Publib] Blu-ray vs. DVD

NetFlix is an extraordinary resource. A Roku streaming video player is
about $89 - a one time fee.
With broadband and an $8.95 a month Netflix subscription for unlimitied
single or $10.00
for unlimited single with Blue-ray - you have access to thousands of movies
on demand.
The XBox also streams NetFlix and there are several other DVD players that
include
that feature too. The $8.95 also includes live Stars play broadcast.
The titles include a massive list of educational videos - from the Ken Burns
series to
the Discovery Channel. The include obscure Indie titles that rarely see
major distribution
along with recent major releases, such as 7 Pounds. So, the lack of
educational overlap
with video outlets such as Blockbuster is not longer a factor.
Viccy is right. She may be able to cut her AV budget. People have a
viable, inexpensive,
convenient option to selecting AV materials from the library. No one needs
to drive to
the library or spend time checking in and checking out. And, if options to
collection
development such as Blue-ray are dismissed, there is even less reason for
patrons
to enter the library.
