Our deciding factor on purchasing blu-rays was two-fold. Our IT department
installed a blu-ray player in our meeting room for our Saturday afternoon at
the movies program and we wanted to show blu-ray features for our Super
Heroes Film Festival last November. We currently have 2,029 dvd titles and
13 blu-ray titles and plan on purchasing additional blu-ray titles as
funding permits.

Subject: [Publib] Blu-ray vs. DVD
Hello.
I thought there had been some discussion on this in the past but could not
find anything in
the archives.
So here goes "again?"
We have a fairly decent sized DVD collection that is very popular. A few
patrons have asked
if we are planning on getting any blu-ray material.
I am ready to purchase blu-ray but my library's interim director wants to
know what other
libraries are doing with blu-ray. By that I think she means are there a lot
of libraries "out
there" that have made that step?
Please let me know about your deciding factor(s) in purchasing or NOT
purchasing. Have
you had many patrons asking about this format?
Thanks for opinions, policies and viewpoints.
BYE!
