[Publib] "Green" issue: Publishers mailing lists

They often get your name from professional associations like ALA. I
found that if I got off their list, the next time I registered for a
conference, I got right back on, so I complained to the association
about not selling my name. Moderate effect, but worth a try.

The Direct Marketing Association offers a "Do Not Mail" service at this
site: http://tinyurl.com/yfr7rtu

If that doesn't work, inform the junk mail senders that you will not do
business with their company, and put the word out among your colleagues
why.
