[Publib] What would you tell a student?

Hi!

I'm developing and teaching an online, two credit library school graduate
course that begins in January and is called "Current Issues in Mgmt:
Leadership and Administration in Public Libraries". It's an opportunity to
give a dose of "real world" for library school students, and I'm planning
to cover current issues in the public library and the tools needed to manage
those issues.

I need your input: if you had your chance to impart one nugget of wisdom to
a library school student, what would it be? What do you wish you had known
about - and knew how to handle - when you first started in public libraries?

Thanks so much!
Christie Brandau

p.s.I will be requiring that the students subscribe to Publib and to
Webjunction.
