[Publib] Sacred Cows continued

Sacred cows which give me pause:

Everybody has to be quiet in a library. (Why? We're often not.)
No cell phones in the library. (They're inevitable - so what are we
going to do about the repercussions?)
Someone already mentioned the non-circing reference books. Ready
Reference, yes. Permanent reference collections...maybe.
Adult programming is less important than Children's programming. Or
vice versa. Aren't we about lifelong learning?
Talking to patrons honestly is bad for business.
We can't trust patrons. (okay, I go back and forth on this one daily)

The last posting generated a lot of great responses. I wanted to follow
up to see if anyone had suggestions for other departments? Childrens?
Circulation? Reference?

You are all great!

I will compile all my received suggestions and re-post as one when I
have completed it.

Thanks again,
