[Publib] Question for youth librarians...

I can't say enough about the Tumblebooks service - we used to have games
on our children's computers for kids, but I was always worried about
licensing issues, esp. with anything even remotely related to Disney,
and often they'd be a problem with freezing, etc.
We subscribe to the Tumblebooks service - it's just a few hundred
dollars per year for a library our size (approx 50K pop), your patrons
have access to hundreds of interactive story books, games, puzzles, and
"readables" (read-along). We have three dedicated stations with
headphones attached, using the Arlington Kiosk Browser product (<$50/PC)
from another company, which locks the station to only the Tumblebooks
site (no accidental Net surfing). It's also accessible (included in
price we pay) to all our patrons remotely from home. They're very fond
of it.
My 2 cents. http://www.tumblebooks.com/ It's a Canadian company - very
nice to work with, on the whole.
This has saved me a lot of tech headaches, so I offer this suggestion in
that vein.

Subject: [Publib] Question for youth librarians...
Hi all:
I've been given the task of purchasing new computer games for our
youth computers. Do any of you have suggestions as to what you believe
would be fun games for our little ones? We currently have a couple of
Dr. Seuss games; a Mercer Mayer game; a couple of Barney games, etc.,
and are looking to update.
Thank you in advance...
