[Publib] The end of CD HotList

Dear CD HotList readers,

I'm sorry to report that Baker & Taylor, owner of CD HotList, is
discontinuing the program. The November issue will be the final one.

Some of you will remember that I started CD HotList by myself in 1999, as a
rather spartan web page hosted at UNC Greensboro, where I worked at the
time. Several contributors joined me a few years later, and I signed it
over to B&T in 2004, at which point it expanded to cover 40+ titles each
month. What will happen next is unclear. I need to try to dig out a copy
of the original consultant's agreement that I signed with B&T and determine
whether or not I still own the CD HotList name, and then decide whether it
should continue in a new form or perhaps with a different host, or whether I
should go back to doing it as a simple public service, or whether it's time
to let it die a natural death.

Thanks to all of you who have read, and commented, and contributed over the
years. I hope it's been useful to you -- it's certainly been fun for me and
the other CDHL contributors.
