CAPITAL AREA DISTRICT LIBRARY
DATE: November 3, 2009
POSITION: BUSINESS LIBRARIAN
HOURS & LOCATION OF POSITION: Downtown Lansing Library, 401 South
Capitol Avenue, Lansing, MI.
Part-time. 25 Hours/week. May include evenings and weekends.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Possession of a Master's Degree in Library
Science or its equivalent from an ALA accredited institution.
Possession of a Michigan Librarian's Professional Certificate. This is
an entry-level position, no previous experience is required. Second
language speakers desired (Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, Farsi,
Hmong/Lao, and Serbo-Croatian).
NATURE OF WORK: Under the supervision of a Branch or Department Head,
provides quick reference, detailed research and reader's advisory
assistance. Provides support services to entrepreneurs and small
businesses. Provides one-on-one and group training for library patrons
and staff, provides programming for adults on entrepreneurial and small
business topics. Develops and maintains the business library
collections; and performs work in reference, collection development,
reader's advisory service, acquisitions or other specific fields. May
supervise the work of support staff.
SALARY: $20.16 per hour
