Amazon - very easy to set up, especially if you have a buyer's account,
though they like to have a credit card or account info (to process refunds)
for seller's account. Take a bigger % of sale, but listing is free and
easy, since they are set up for books. Great visibility, since Amazon is
where people go for books. You will get market value, but not much more.
Only allows $3.99 for shipping, even if it a set or larger item. Sales run
for a long time and can be easily renewed. Many books aren't worth selling
here or anywhere, since they are listed used for 1¢ (plus $3.99 shipping).
Sales are deposited in our account.
eBay - Takes a smaller % of sales. Requires more time to set up and manage.
You may be fortunate enough to get caught up an in bidding war, but more
likely your books will attract little attention. Whole auction deal - lots
of sales to different people and money from a variety of places, with
paypal taking a %.
The main factor for us was time, especially staff time. We sell on Amazon.
