[Publib] Desk scheduling

FWIW, I generally do four weeks schedules at a time, posted in advance.
For example, this week I posted the schedule for June 20-July 17.

I schedule 9 half-time circ staff and 1 full time Asst. Supervisor for a
72-hour work-week.

Vacation time must be asked for in advance of the schedule being posted,
personal time (up to 2 days) may be scheduled after the schedule is up.
Obviously, sick time is generally not scheduled. :-)

Staff may switch among themselves after the schedule is posted, but they
have to work it out among themselves and then get my approval (which is
granted unless they have just done something not possible).

HTH, and feel free to ask if you have more questions.

Subject: [Publib] Desk scheduling

I schedule all the public services desk - circ, adult reference, and
children's - at our smallish library. Although I write a Saturday
schedule each quarter, I write a weekday schedule every week. A friend
employed in another field asked me why I don't write a monthly schedule
"like everybody else." Is anyone in the library world doing this?
