What booking software do you use? Do you like it?
Cybraryn. We're switching.
How do you provide access to non-card holders?
"Surf cards" (Internet use only; no i.d. required; and guest passes.
Do you give out one time use slips?
No.
Do you give out temporary internet cards?
Yes.
Do you have different machines for non-library card holders?
No.
Do you have a lot of patrons abusing the system? What, if anything, do you do about it?
We have a small core of regulars who have multiple surf cards and/or access to other card numbers who manage to get on the Internet throughout the day.
We use to warn and then ban repeaters for the day or week depending on the abuse level. This required staff to monitor use which got to be too time consuming. We're hoping the our new computer management system works better to control abuse.
Who helps patrons get on the internet in your library... librarians, teen volunteers, a specific position for this?
Library Assistants in the computer use area do most of the patron computer assistance.
