Hi everyone,
I had been debating whether to chime in on this one but Steve's comment
just now settled it. I agree with him. A new Catholic Church was just
built in Sioux Falls, of which I am a member. However, it is the most
boring, bland insipid building I have seen in a long time. 'Prairie
plain' is the best adjective I can give it. I do give our pastor credit
for obtaining the statues, etc from closed parishes, thus a form of
recycling. However, he has made a big point of how every decision on the
church was made by consensus, and it shows. It's not the money-the
budget was sufficient to have allowed a few creative ideas. But even the
stained glass looks canned. Function over form-yes, for the most part.
But do allow for some sense of style as well.
