[Publib] Adult Story times author suggestions please...

I'm preparing for my first adult story time at a local senior center.
For those of you out there who do adult story times for seniors can you
please recommend some authors? I will probably read something funny, but
feel like I haven't found just the right thing yet. I might also read
something more serious, a short story perhaps.
