[Publib] Chargers for rechargeable batteries

While the practice of recharging batteries ensures a smaller "footprint"
and better stewardship, standard batteries can be recycled in some parts
of the country. We've been recycling ALL batteries at our library for a
couple of years. I'd have to check with the Extension Dept to see who is
taking them, but they aren't going in the landfill.

Regards,

John

I have one of these:

http://www.batteryjunction.com/tsmbachwi8aa1.html

It came with 8AAA and 8AA high quality Ni-MH batteries

that recharge up to 1000 times - potentially replacing

16,000 standard batteries.

$37.00/ 16,000 batteries = .231 cents per battery life

plus cost of electricity for recharge

Much better than tossing heavy metal into the landfills.

Recharging batteries recycle, standard batteries do not.

Is anyone using rechargable batteries for Playaways? We want to do so,
but can't find a charger that handles more than 2 - 4 AAA batteries at a
time. What type of batteries and chargers are you using?Any help will be
much appreciated!
