So far, nobody on any list I sent the question to has had a problem with corporate sponsorship. Most don't have it. Some are sponsored by a Foundation that may get corporate help, but the direct sponsor to them is the Foundation. One person wrote that it may be a misuse of the public funds to offer a corporate sponsorship at all, but our City says that would be OK here, so that may be a state or city/county thing. Nobody has said they have had blowback from the type of sponsor - though most are not sponsors that are already associated with something bad for children in the media. (no tobacco or alcohol companies, casinos, etc.)
We did a presentation before City Council on our homework help services as a whole (2 Homework Centers, 4 sites with volunteer Homework Helpers, and Live Homework Help) and the challenges we were facing with all three. The first thing everyone suggested was corporate sponsorship.
So I may be putting on my nice suit and taking the presentation on the road ... who knows!
