Here's an article of interest.  I never knew this library had such a  
facility.  Anybody out there working in this library system?

Oakland Library History Room may be limited to use due to  cost-saving 
measures

PATRONS and fans of the Oakland Library History Room  were reacting with 
dismay this week, upon hearing that a possible budget  cost-saving measure 
submitted for City Council consideration might result in its  closure. 
According to the supplemental informational staff report  released at the 
March 17 meeting, if the proposal is implemented, the room would  be open by 
appointment only, rather than the seven day week schedule now in  place. History 
Room librarians would be reassigned to other duties, the report  states.  
Dennis Evanosky, an author, editor and historian, expressed dismay and  
disappointment. "I am a frequent user of the library and I can't imagine not  being 
able to have ready access," he said.
