[Publib] textbook question

At my former library the middle school gave us a deposit collection of
textbooks that would be available to kids who left theirs at school and
needed them evenings and weekends. They were on open, marked shelves so
anyone could look at them.

The only problem was parents who thought we should make an exception for
their kid and check them out.

Subject: [Publib] textbook question {Fraud?}

Have you ever heard of a library having a collection of the local school
systems 'approved textbooks' on file for public examination? Pros or
cons?
