[Publib] checking out books to keep them from being weeded

I agree that it's important to try and replace the classics for new life.
Have they reprinted the Gwen Bristow books? (I have copies of all of
them--Jubilee Trail included at home)
I have used the phrase cover-magpies when describing the love and care of a
children's chapter book section. Kids are drawn to bright and exciting
covers. Adults are also--otherwise we'd never put books face out. I've
been doing an indepth weed of chapterbooks and the classics take me the
longest to replace because I'm trying to find a cover that is engaging.
We have a sponsorship sale in the late fall each year--the staff picks out
books and patrons choose which book they'd like to add to the collection
with their nameplate, gifting us the cost of the book. For children's
chapterbooks, this is a good way to replace classics as grandparents and
parents look for meaningful books they remember reading and would like to
share with the next generations.
