I was looking through some old papers and found an old postcard, sent
November 27th of 2001 from American Libraries. It is typewritten and reads,
Dear Friend,
Just a note to acknowledge receipt of 'Research Proposal: Improving Library
Services to the Dead.' Please keep us posted on any updating. We'll be
in touch as soon as possible.
With appreciation,
The Editors
I provide this as a guide to any who wonder whether their submissions to
library journals will receive decent levels of review. A few months later,
not more than a couple of years, I got a letter informing me that American
Libraries could not find a place for the piece. It was unsigned.
M. McGrorty
