I would like to heartily agree with Robert Balliot who made the
suggestion of hiring an ESL instructor for teaching a group of students
as opposed to students learning English on the computer. I am a
librarian and ESL certified teacher, and have taught many groups of ESL
students. In my daily work at the reference desk I see the great need
for these types of classes suggested by Robert, and am presently working
on a type of program to utilize the library as a conduit for these
services. Group learning is always an asset for the ESL learner, and
the proximity of learning in the local library is an opportunity that
should reap many benefits for the community and the students.
