Perhaps we should be doing text reference. If you look at the job
description for an "agent" the required qualifications are few and the
pay terrible!
.10/question All you need is an internet connection!

ACK!!! They are called KGB (knowlege generation bureau?) I've been
complaining about them for weeks now to any of my friends who will still
listen to me (few). They have several ads in our area. I just want to
scream. You have to pay for the text charges as well and no, they did
not indicate a turn around time on the answer. You could just call the
library and get the same info for free, instantly! I wish we had that
kind of advertising money:(

I noticed an ad on TV while watching a basketball game over the weekend.
It
featured two men who were arguing over whether Bruce Lee's character
killed
Chuck Norris' character in a vintage martial arts movie. In an effort
to
find the answer one man made calls to friends, etc. The other send a
text
message to 542542 (I think that was the number) and got an answer in
return
(I don't remember if the ad indicated how long it took to get an
answer).
The "answer" cost 99 cents. Did anyone else see it? Do any libraries
on
publib provide access to reference service via text messaging?
