[Publib] School visits - what's your policy?

Hi Everyone -

Please forgive cross-posting.

I am revisiting my guidelines for school visits to the library and was
wondering if any of you have such a policy and would be willing to share
yours?

The main points of my old one were: 5 kids to an adult, call 24 hours in
advance if you are bringing more than 10 children to the library so we can
plan an event for the kids (or really more so we could be sure to have a
staff person on duty-- since we don't always have the kids desk staffed,
especially during the day in the school year).

My manager has asked that we take out the call first portion and rely
more on the notification to the teachers that the children must follow
library guidelines like any other patron, and if they cannot (ie if 2 of the
5 kids in their charge start pulling books off the shelves and throwing
stuffed animals around) they will need to leave for the day. We will also
then notify all of our staff that if they see a large group of kids walk in
at any given time, they need to call me or another reference librarian.

Anyways, if you have a visitation policy and would like to share, please
send me a copy. Many thanks -
