 A couple of months ago my library system (eight buildings, under 200 staff
including ft and pt, circ almost 3 mil in 2007) cut back hours due to the
budget, and we're really busy.  Sometimes we have to work short-staffed.
And to save money we instituted self-pickup of holds (allowing patrons to
pick up their own holds).  There have also been some staffing changes where
branch managers are being changed out, and staff aren't doing their old jobs
anymore.  Needless to say, morale is pretty low.  We are having a staff
training day in late August, and could really use some morale building
exercises.  Does anyone have any suggestions that are library specific?  Of
course the library system has little or no extra money, so no cost
suggestions would be best.  Thanks so much, and you can email me off-list if
