Our library was successful in getting a grant that allowed us to purchase 8
laptop computers. We are using these computers to teach free classes to
adults. Our curriculum is very basic; how to use the mouse, how to get on a
search engine and search, how to set up an e mail account, etc. When our
students are a bit more comfortable with keyboarding Workforce Services will
teach on line job search, resume development, cover letter composition,
etc. This has been a great partnership for the library. WS has printed
advertising flyers, donated folders, and allowed us to borrow an overhead
projector. We put a link on our web page to Workforce Services and
unemployment insurance. In our classes we start each lesson on our web
page, teaching students how to connect to these links. I encourage all
libraries to seek out partnerships with their local Workforce Service
Centers.

“The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an
eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was
'committed'.”
