I'd put them to cover all your public service points; any parts of the library that are not directly in the line of sight of a desk (odd corners, behind stairwells and elevators); and outside your entrances. You should also have the capability to make some kind of videorecording.
Hidden corners and other blind spots are prime candidates for cameras. Cameras do not take the place of vigilant and visible security officers or staff monitoring what's going on.

We continue to plan for our new library, and our newest issue is regarding the placement of security cameras. In your opinion what areas really need to be covered? e.g. parking lot, reference, young adult.
