Both my parents graduated from eighth grade. Out of six children, all
received high school diplomas, 4 college graduates--two of those with
masters.
We grew up on a farm, and I live on one now. I don't plan to raise
poultry, pigs, or milk cows by hand again. I became a tech person at a
previous library because I knew tools, and I wasn't afraid to move bulky
equipment. (I can still carry a 50 lb. sack of feed, but not as far as I
used to.) I became a teacher because I knew I needed something to feed my
mind. (I'm a voracious reader--almost a book a day.) I got my lifetime
K-12 certification to become a librarian at a school, which eventually I
did. I began my second career as a asst. director/bookmobile
supervisor/tech person. Now I'm the director/tech person. I enjoy living
on the farm. I help my husband with the chores, & I can fix fence without
any help. It's relaxing. Also I can be in my front yard in my jammies.
I've always awakened 6-6:30 without an alarm clock.

If I were rich, I would buy the 40 acres kitty-corner from us, and the 40
acres just north of us. I would set up a nice little nest egg for
retirement, splurge on the kids, & the give the rest away. I would keep
working because I enjoy it. I plan to work for as long as I can.
