Hi Katie,

I've included some links to reviews and synopses of these so you can check them out. Some of these may be a little advanced for high school kids but they are all fabulous books.

Hello,
The
Honors American Literature class gives a very specific summer reading
assignment in our town.  Students need to read a contemporary novel
(1980 or after) written by an American author, and it must have the
theme of individual vs.society. They must be able to write an essay on
how the character seeks redemption.

Any suggestions? We had
our first student with this assignment today, and we want to be ready
with a long list when the swarms start coming.

Thanks so much!
Katie
