[Publib] Budget Question

Kathi,
Thanks! That's exactly what we are doing. We have put out an e-mail blast to our card-holders and city workers soliciting donations and we are seeing them start to come in.
As far as donations, a very interesting thing happened here. We moved into a brand new building five months ago after 20 years in a too small, too dark, stinky old building. Donations seemed to reflect that. People donated boxes of old, old books covered with dust and grossies. Since we moved, our donations have been clean, in good condition new books! I mean it is weird!
I wonder if any other libraries have experience this phenomenon?

How dreadful! My suggestion is to solicit donations from your reading public. Especially children's materials and best sellers (which many people buy anyway). I know it's a lot of staff time processing them, but hey, you're getting them for free. What'll your cataloguers do otherwise?
