[Publib] And you thought the Seattle Main Library was a little
odd. . .

Architects have absolutely NO idea about planning a library building. I
haven't been in it, but the recently-built San Francisco Main Library also
serves as a horrible example. We should build in to public libraries' RFPs
a review of the plans by the people who will have to work in the building,
which are not necessarily administrators or board members.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins
in the spring when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the
summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill
rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone."
