Again, just a para-pro here, but yes, really. Or, at least, the statement
doesn't surprise me. I got almost all of my Reader's Advisory/Reference
Interview skills as a bookseller. (B&N, not Borders.) And I certainly got
all of my customer service training there. I also get asked to help
create/design/set up displays as part of my position, precisely *because* of
my bookstore training.
And hey, if we ever added a coffee bar at our library (which I hear some
libraries are), I'd have learned espresso slinging at the bookstore as well.
