I've seen several of these dumped in my Bookdrop.....but the patron always
claimed that "it was that way when I checked it out."

You may have seen Barer's art before.
Last year she won a PhotoLucida award for her series.
The artist, Cara Barer, says this series is "a lament for the passing of
eras when books were considered valuable, and a path to knowledge."
