Anybody but me remember Newspeak?  First you redefine something, then
you degrade it, then you eliminate it.  This is disgraceful and
disgusting, and the Edinburgh council should be ashamed of itself for
taking such an action.  Also, they might want to measure all the
information-seeking activities in a library and see whether the activity
has fallen off quite as much as they want it to.
