[Publib] Book group evaluation

Hi Anne --

We do not have an evaluation form here, but have also been talking
about formalizing some of our processes related to our book
discussion sessions. We'd appreciate your posting your results back
to the list.

I've tried to avoid calling our monthly event a "group" as it really
is an open session and people are free to come & go, one month to the
next, without signing up in advance or worrying that they "missed a
session". I started the series about 18 months ago at the request of
some vocal patrons, and have been having a wonderful time with
it. For me it actually is the first time I've regularly
participated, let alone moderated, a book discussion. While not a
big attendance thing, most that do attend seem to be sticking with it
with regularity.

One of the things I'd like to hear from other libraries is about the
process they use to select titles. I've been having a dickens of a
time getting people to make suggestions, and I'd much rather be
"democratic" about the titles than having me do it all the time.

I'd also appreciate hearing if any libraries have had success
attracting men to their discussions. Until about 2 months ago, I had
been the sole male voice - now we've got one other guy that has come
back a few times.

Will look forward to hearing from others.

Paul
