AMMON, BETTE BAMMON at cdalibrary.org

One of our interview questions is:

This position may include morning, afternoon, evenings, weekends and/or holiday hours. You may also be required to adapt to future schedule changes and/or additional hours depending on library needs. Would this type of schedule work for you?

We can generally tell from the answer whether or not the applicant has another job, is a student, or is available any time.

Subject: RE: [Publib] interview appropriate question

We usually ask the candidate why they are looking for part time work. Sometimes they're working around a school schedule, another job, or childcare. I've never had anyone actually say that they're really looking for a full time job, but if they're struggling to come up with a reason part-time employment appeals to them, that tells me something.

Of course, there are the folks who will say anything to get the job....and there's just really nothing you can do about that.

Good luck!

We are going to be interviewing for a PT position. I am looking for a way to ask if the applicant really wants a part-time job or are they just trying to get any job they can. Any ideas? Is this allowed?
