Judith,
I so agree with you about the chasing after the staff member. The last time I went to a big box bookstore (whose initials might be B&N) looking for specific titles, I had to ask for help. After trotting me around to many different locations, the staff member couldn't find one of the titles. So back to the computer we went. There were many in stock but where were they? Finally, I found them with no help from the staff member, stacked under a table displaying several of the same type of books. I haven't gone to a bookstore since looking for a specific book.
As for the reclassification, a few years back I decided we needed to reclassify our videos, under protest from my cataloger. It took months and months to be sure we had all of them. I can't imagine having to re-do the whole collection.

I enjoy bookstore browsing when I have time on my hands but it's rare that I can find a specific title without assistance from somebody working there. The bigger the bookstore, the more assistance I need. More often than not, the bookstore worker checks multiple special category niches and then the computer while I chase after him/her (not easy in a crowded store during the holidays.)
