[Publib] playaways and batteries

We have some serious budget problems here, so before we started offering
Playaways we decided that batteries, earbuds, and lanyards were all
"consumable" items; either they would be used up (batteries) or someone
else would not want to reuse them, in the case of earbuds and lanyards.
We sell all of the consumable items if patrons want them; the batteries
are $.50 each, earbuds are $1.50, and lanyards are $1. Since we charged
from the start, there have been no complaints, even though neighboring
libraries don't charge for batteries. For the most part, people supply
their own, so we don't sell many items.

HTH,

JoAnn

Subject: [Publib] playaways and batteries

Hello,

For the libraries that circulate Playaways, how do you handle batteries?

Do you provide rechargable batteries or do you rely on the customer's to
provide the batteries?

If you rely on your customers to replace the batteries are you willing
to share wording with me for PR purposes?

Thank you in advance for your help.
