Library Manager - Digital Services Division

The Wichita Public Library invites applications from innovative,
service-minded Information Technology professionals interested in
joining our leadership team as manager of our Digital Services Division.


Working with Library staff, the City's Information Technology Department
and the Library's technology vendors, our Digital Services Manager
provides oversight and technical support for the maintenance,
enhancement and integration of services that make use of information
technologies. Duties include working closely with the Library's assigned
IT system analyst to provide oversight and support of our Polaris
integrated library system, our Envisionware workstation timing and print
management system, our videoconferencing services and other technologies
used to deliver library service. Management of the Library's
participation in the Universal Service (E-rate) discount program,
supervision of staff who develop and maintain the Library's web
presence, and coordination of electronic resource subscriptions and
licensing are also responsibilities of this position. As a member of the
Leadership Team, our Digital Services Manager also plays a critical role
in developing and executing the Library's strategic goals and in
assisting with supervision of our library system. 

Our successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of public
library practices and procedures, a strong history of use of library
technologies including leadership in the development and support of
technology-related library services, a demonstrated ability to work
effectively with library employees, customers and vendors, the ability
to analyze problems and to identify practical solutions and the ability
to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Experience with OCLC, Envisionware and the Polaris ILS are preferred. 

Placement into the Library Manager classification requires a master's
degree in library science from an American Library Association
accredited institution plus five years of professional library
experience including three years experience in library administration or
supervision of professional library staff or any equivalent combination
of experience and training. Offers of employment will be made contingent
upon passing a pre-employment physical, which will include drug
screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a police
records check. The current salary range for this position is $58,040 -
$105,298.
