I think using youtube would be great especially if your library sends an electronic newsletter to patrons/supporters/board members. You could include the link right in the email.
I have been kicking around the idea of putting podcasts up on our internal wiki to provide training. But I haven't gotten much further than the kicking stage :) plus our technology hasn't necessarily caught up to my "great ideas"
It seems like university and colleges use youtube a lot more than public libraries for tours etc.
These are from universities and colleges
The Western Kentucky Universities uses youtube to post a tour of their libraries.
This is another American university's video to promote one of their services over google. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gu8eypvMRN8
This is one put up by Williams College http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-t0LHnw-fc&feature=related
Public Libraries
Worthington Libraries (in Worthington, OH) puts up a lot of stuff on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/worthingtonlibraries This library seems to do quite a bit. You might want to try to contact them directly.
This video from a public library was used during their staff day to show what goes on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrtYdFV_Eak
Not sure if Madonna would see it as copyright infringement....
This was used to promote summer reading at several library systems in the US
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWlicnl3HII
http://www.youtube.com/user/atyourlibrary contains videos showing advocacy
I'm not sure exactly what this was used for but it is definitely for advocacy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG6CtH3V8Us&feature=related
But if you do a search in YouTube you can find even more. Then contact the libraries directly that put up videos that resemble what you want.

Dear Colleagues,
This enquiry comes from Ireland.
I am wondering if any Library Directors or Senior Librarians in the United States are using YouTube as method of getting their vision for their library service out to the wider public. I am thinking of how your President-elect Barack Obama uses YouTube on a regular basis.
I am thinking in investing in a good quality HD camcorder.
I would then put on YouTube short statements from myself on what our library service is trying to achieve, and I would also post on YouTube brief filmed presentations of what goes on in individual branch libraries.
If this kind of thing is already happening in some public libraries in the United States perhaps some of the kind contributors to Publib would let me know.
A Happy New Year to all Publib readers.
Every good wish,
Pat McMahon,
County Librarian,
Galway County Libraries,
IRELAND.
