Well, we have at last discovered another job that pays about as much as a  
beginning librarian gets, although there is the advantage of having nobody  
around to ask you where the bathroom is, because sheep can't talk, and because  
there isn't any bathroom anyhow.

If you were wondering, some states do have standards for these  people.

At any rate, if you can't find a librarian job and you don't mind getting  
tick-carried diseases, maybe sheep herding is for you. If you are already a  
librarian and don't kick at being paid very low wages, then you have no  
problems--your herder will be around to lead you to the next patch of grass, and  
eventually up the short ramp that leads to retirement.
 
Don't be a sheep, and if you're a herder, do it in California where the  
weather is better.
