Just a Friday thought here, but it may reflect on the reading skills of the
nation:
I keep seeing in the news and blogs that the stimulus bill is so terribly
large (some versions were 800 pages, more recent ones down to about 650) that
nobody could possibly read the thing and comprehend it.
I've read the thing three times in two days, all different versions, and
made notes on changes for my employer. It takes about half an hour to scan the
PDF on the screen, picking out details. Hardly the labors of Hercules. Go
ahead and try it yourself. See if you can find anything pertaining to
libraries--start at the beginning and go to the end. 'Taint hard.
Alas, the country is so dumbed down that it can't read its own laws as they
are formed.
