Our library is applying for development block grant funds for the
next fiscal year. The amount of money is around $15,000, and we
would use it to continue and expand our services to job seekers, as
the programs that we are running during this economic downturn are
drawing more and more people. We are thinking of using some of the
funds to add a database, Vault.com has been suggested. However, it
is pretty expensive and would take out about one quarter of our
funds. We are a medium sized library in Connecticut, serving the
city of Middletown, which has about 44,000 population. We are also
the largest library in the county so we serve a great many beyond our
local area. For those of you who may have Vault.com and are
comparable in size, do you find it helpful for people who are job
hunting or doing career exploration. Are there other databases that
might serve us better. As we are on a time deadline any responses
that can come in the next few days would be appreciated. I would be
happy to summarize for the list.
