When I worked at a public library last year I did the Free computer classes
to the public. I am a computer techie with a BA in Computer Information
Systems. I learned with my very first class that what I thought of as
beginning was not the patrons idea of beginning. Luckily I had a resource
sent to me from the Librarian at the State of Maine. Mousexercises. I had to
teach mouse skills. After that I learned to put in other classes "Must Have
Mouse and Keyboard Skills". I also did classes just for learning the mouse.
The laptop computers came from a grant. (Don't use wireless mouse and
keyboards). I found a great program called "Snag It" which allowed me to
copy and paste just a piece of the screen to make handouts.
If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them.
I am a Community College now, and do not teach anymore. The job of teaching
computer classes went to a new employee who happens to have in the school
system. I don't know how his classes are going.
